From the recording Coiscéim Coiligh / As The Days Brighten (CEFCD218, Gael Linn)

Share

Starting with a Donegal version of a classic reel heard from the playing of fiddler Paul O’Shaughnessy, the set includes a composition from fiddler James Kelly as well as a tune named after Donegal fiddler Danny Meehan, which was famously recorded by Tommy Peoples. The final tune, recorded by Brian Conway and Tony DeMarco on the 1981 album The Apple in Winter, refers to a New York accordion player and contemporary of Michael Coleman, who also played regularly with fiddler Lad O’Beirne.
